Gaia-X is a project initiated by the Federal Government and representatives from business and science with the aim of developing an efficient and competitive, secure and trustworthy data infrastructure according to European values and guidelines. The aim is to empower users to decide for themselves where and how services and data are processed and stored. The aim is to create an open, secure and, above all, transparent ecosystem that efficiently mediates digital services between providers and users.

The goals of Gaia-X and Cloud&Heat overlap. We too are working to increase digital sovereignty through open and transparent digital infrastructures. That is why we are contributing at various points in the Gaia-X ecosystem to advance these socially and economically important issues.

MVG - Minimal Viable Gaia
Under the leadership of our COO, Dr Marius Feldmann, the MVG working group has been developing and validating the first prototype Gaia-X tools and workflows since 2020. In doing so, the results of the different working groups (e.g. service characteristics and architecture), use cases as well as the different actors of the Gaia-X ecosystem are taken into account and aligned with the goals and visions of Gaia-X.

Gaia-X Hackathons
The hackathons are organised in cooperation with the Gaia-X Association for Data and Cloud (AISBL), the eco-Verband der Internetwirtschaft e.V. and us and are becoming increasingly popular.
Self-descriptions
In order to achieve the goals of Gaia-X, self-descriptions have a special role to play. Self-descriptions are used to describe services and data within Gaia-X in a way that enables the user to read details about how and where their services and data are processed. The definition of an appropriate vocabulary for self-descriptions is a complex task that has a key role in Gaia-X and is being actively promoted by Cloud&Heat.
